This blog is an advisory blog. It will be used to post issues that seventh grade students deal with at IS 93. We feel that having anonymous ficticious students will allow our classmates to post real issues. The Characters are Mario and Jessica. They are the "experts" who give advice and talk about the problems of Gwen and Ivan, also ficticious. Let's see how this all works...

RE: My Teacher

Haha. That does sound like the perfect teacher! I'm just kidding! This is a serious issue. I remember when i was in elementary school, my teacher had left because she just delivered her baby and she never came back. We had different substitutes come in for months! and we didnt learn squat! Then, we finally got a permanent sub - but HE COULD'NT EVEN SPEAK CORRECT ENGLISH! I ended up getting a Level 2 on my ELA State Exam which really got my family and I disappointed.
So I understand what your getting at and you're right - it isn't fair to the kids who actually do want to learn. Your teacher could be going through some things but that doesn't mean he/she can just take it out on the students. I think you should talk to your parents because they probably have the most influence on things going on in the school. But then again, the school year is almost over and I think you'll probably get through this. Let's just hope you don't get them next year!

My Teacher

This year, one of my teachers hasn't been teaching us anything. She is always fooling around with other students or teachers, talking on the phone, sleeping, or eating. At first, this would sound like the perfect teacher to any student, but after a while, when you think about it, this is not benefiting us in any way. When time comes to take the state test for this subject, there is a big chance that I wil fail that test thanks to this teacher. I don't know who I should talk to about this problem and my concerns of what will happen if this teacher continues to not teach us anything.

Too Much Stress!!!!

Lately, a lot of things have been going on in school and outside of school. There are Arista practices that I always have to attend to, I have to tutor my brother so he passes his upcoming tests, I myself have to study for my exit exams, and to top that off I have to work extremely hard in baseball because the playoffs are coming for my baseball team. There are all these things to do and there is a lot on my mind and all of these things are getting me stressed out. I don't know what to do and I need help!

Substitutes

Recently I have noticed that the school has hired new substitutes. But I have also noticed that most of them barely know how to speak proper english. I feel that this situation can affect how I learn and puts me in a situation where i can't communicate with the substitute. How can I confront this problem or make it better for me?

Electronics banned in I.S.93. What should I do?

Recently I have been informed that they are going to ban all electronics in school. They are doing this to try to eliminate all possible dangerous weapons being brung into school. But my parent tell me to bring my cell phone every day to school just in case of an emergency. If something were happens and I dont have my cell phone, how should I contact my parents or 911?

Too Much Activities

I'm in 7th grade. I feel so much pressure. Lately, all my teacher are talking about high schools! I have all these different after school activities. I go to religion classes and Polish school on Saturday. I belong to a few clubs. Now, I have this Arista Ceremony. I have to do 10 hours o community hours! On top of all that I have homework in 3 languages ( English, Polish, Italian). Cut me some slack!!!! PLEASE!

Supportive Friends

Listen Ivan, don't worry so much if the kids at your school don't like you for who you are. You do what you feel is the right thing and if your friends still bother you then mabye they aren't actually your friends after all. If you want to participate in this activity then do it and if your friends are really your friends then they will support you.

Friends, or Not?

Mario and Jessica, I need your help. I signed up for a school activity and I am really looking forward to performing in front of the school. But I am afraid of what my friends might think of me. I am already the new kid at school and I don't want to make a bad impression to make my friends think I'm weird.

A Friend to be is a Friend to come

Don't worry about what everyone calls you. You are comming from the right percpective in this situation, I am sure tht your teachers would appeaciate you being so bold and friendly towards them. In my eyes and the eyes of many others you are a friendly person who is kind and sincere toward the feelings of others.

Teachers Pet!

Kids at my school are always calling me teachers pet because I always defend the teachers when studdents make fun of them. I believe the I am not a teachers pet, well I mean they are people to and have the same feelings as everyone else. I don't think it's right to judge them just because they are teacher. But, I really don't want to be called teachers pet anymore. Mario, Jessica help me I don't know what to do!

The Golden Rule

You know what they always say! Treat others the way you want to be treated. I don't think your friends would like it if they were made fun of! Besides, I believe that if you just ask your friends to stop picking on him, they will. If they're really your friends, you're opinion does count! Yet still, there's no garuntee that they will be the best of friends either but at most, they'll probably stop making fun of him. So don't sweat it. If something's bothering you, you should tell them. That's what friends are for!

New student

There is a new student in the school and my friends make fun of him. What should I do? If I try to be nice to him my friends might make fun of me too. I dont want my friends to make fun of me or think I am a loser. What should I do? Should I go up to him and try to befriend him or just ignore him and let him get made fun of by my friends? Please help me.

My Crush And My Friend

Oh my god! My best friend just started going out with my crush. I don't know what to do. She knew I liked this kid for about 3 years. But she still went out with him. He is so cute, sweet, polite, and tall. I talk to him everyday and I thought me and him were really cool. But when I found out, I called her and I just told her what was on my mind. She was really ticked off at me. I didn't care. I thought I did the right thing. But now, that I think about it, I think I did the wrong thing. I'm really sorry. But I don't want to apologize. I have no idea what to do.

The Movies

I don't know what to do. My friend wants to see a movie I have already seen. Though I'd rather see the newest release. I am really nervous about what to tell my friend. If I tell him the wrong thing, our friendship might be broken. I could forget about my friend and go with my other friend to see the newest release. I could see the newest movie or not go at all. I remember when I wanted to go see a newest movie with my friend but he went to see another movie with his other friend. What should I do?
